Here are some resources that I found useful while searching for stories
and articles on Indian Mythology.
Encyclopedia Mythica
Contains articles and stories from many Mythologies. The
Indian Mythology section is somewhat sparse and consists
chiefly of descriptions of the Vedic Gods. It is an interesting
place to find short descriptions of mythological characters.
Indian Mythology
Perhaps the best site for stories from Indian mythology.
It has stories from the Mahabharata, Ramayana, the Panchatantra,
Jataka tales and many other topics. Only drawback is the
annoying ads that pop up because this site is hosted on
tripod.
Free Dictionary
Although not specific to Indian Mythology, this site has
brief descriptions of many of the Indian Mythological
characters.
Sacred Texts
It contains translations of the Vedas, Ramayana, Mahabharatha
and some of the principal upanishads. It has an excellent
primer on the Vedas by A.A. Macdonell. In
addition to Hindu religious texts, a huge number of
texts from other religions is also available. An
excellent resource.
Hindu Books
An excellent resource for books on Hinduism. The
Mahabharatha by Rajaji is one of my favorite books.
The battle episodes are rendered in a wealth of detail and
in the most elegant language. The main drawback is an annoying
site layout and the popups that plague this site.
The Vedic Experience
An excellent introduction to the material in the Vedas. Selected
verses are explained, and various themes are explored.
Valmiki Ramayana
Complete Valmiki Ramyana, with verses in devanagari and
romanized sanskrit, along with prose translation.
Srimad Bhagavatam
Complete translation of the Srimad Bhagavata Purana.
Sanskrit Documents
A large collection of sanskrit documents, in Devanagiri display
and in a transliteration format. Contains both the Vedas and
the Upanishads.
